Ive owned pretty much all the big named sanders out there and have mixed feelings on all of them,some are good and some arnt worth using as a boat anchor.
Then comes along the 90DX and I read all the reviews I could find.
Long story short I purchased it on Amazon to see if all the stories were true,about dust collection,aggressiveness and delta sanding.
Wow am I impressed,I wish this was around 20 years ago,Forget all the other sanders out there and buy this one,it uses 3.5inch sanding pads but cuts your sanding time in half compared to the others and dust is cut down by a good 99% compared to the others,It is the best investment I have made in years.

As good as the 90DX is Im ordering the 1400 router and maybe make a few more boat anchors:)

While the reviews were less than sterling, I didn’t think it could be that bad. My mistake.

I ordered this saw as a gift for my son, who lives with his family on the other side of the country. He has a limited amount of space and limited need for a table saw. But, during a visit, we’re building some shelving for their home and thought it would be helpful to have a saw.

This was NOT the right choice. Example: the included miter gauge is made of cheap plastic, will not hold a 90 degree angle.
Can’t buy an aftermarket replacement, since guide slot is non-standard 5/8-inch. The fence is cheap and not at all accurate. Cheap plastic handles fall off the bevel/height adjustment spinners.

I’m surprised that Amazon would actually carry something as poorly made as this product.

This product may seem solid in the picture, but it was difficult to set up without a manual which I found ridiculous as you would expect a company to at least have the decency to include instructions on setting up on a potentially harmful instrument. I thought that I could somehow get the manual online, but no. This band saw seemed so obscure that the only searches that were turning up were results from Amazon. I then thought I could call their customer support and ask for a manual but that did not work either. I tried a total of seven times to call, but it always went to the company’s voicemail. I decided to just go on without the manual and try to figure everything out, and while that worked to a certain degree, I could not manage to get the saw to stay in place on both wheels even after applying all the tension possible. To be honest, I would stay from this as a first bandsaw. The price may look good, but it’s not what you want to spend your time dealing with if an error does turn up.

Update 8/19/07 – I have recently discovered that there is a fence/shoe adjustment that allows you to precisely align the blade and shoe for all of your speed square cuts. To my knowledge – this feature is not available on any other saw.

Several years ago I had a chance to use a friend’s Dewalt DW364. It was so amazing that I hoped my venerable Makita 8 1/4″ contractor saw would die. The Makita is still running strong (it’s 22 years old) but I finally bought a DW364 anyway.

This saw was not designed for the homeowner but for the professional carpenter.

It will be too heavy for the casual board cutter and the great design features will only be apparent to skilled pro’s.

Circular saws have been built following the same basic design for years. Expensive circular saws had strong, durable motors and heavy duty fences while the cheapies had poor fences and poor motors. The depth and angle adjustments in either group were at best a suggestion of precision.

Dewalt to their credit decided to build a better saw and succeeded masterfully. The other saw manufacturers are still doing things the same old way.

What’s great – Heavy duty fence, clear view of the cut point from the left hand side of the saw, notch to position power cord so it is out of the way on rips, clear and precise depth and angle adjustment, unbelievably smooth and powerful motor.

What’s not – it’s heavy yet it’s mass makes it stable, although not as stable as a worm drive.

I have owned this saw for 3 years and I have constantly had to make adjustments to the rack and pinion “pillow blocks” that hold the rod, they are nothing but plastic in thin sheet metal and are prone to bending to the point where the fence will be 1/8″ off from one end to another. DeWalt went super cheap on materials when making this saw, they should have used a hardened rod (one that won’t flex) to hold the gears and they should have used solid aluminum with bronze bushings for the pillow blocks. This saw is very frustrating to use every time I go out with it. I used to use an old Makita with the simple fence and as long as I have to check the blade every time with a tape on the DeWalt saw, it makes it no better than anything else out there. Good tools were once made in the USA, not anymore.

I am currently in the process of completely gutting and remodeling my house and was in need of some updated tools so I decided to try out the new Dewalt 20v. My main job is doing irrigation work for agricultural applications and am an amateur carpenter so I know my way around a power tool.

My main reason for buying this saw was to cut down 3/4″ plywood subfloors without having to manhandle them onto my tablesaw by myself.

First impression: Right out of the box I noticed that the magnesium shoe was extremely flimsy. Any pressure on the handle above the trigger caused the blade to go slightly out of square. All of your pressure has to be on the fromt handle with only the trigger pulled on the top handle. When I inspected this failure more closely, the back of the shoe has nearly 1/2″ of up and down movement that correlates to less than perfect cuts.

After using this saw for an afternoon the blade (which never produced clean cuts, however it is a speed cutting blade)was nearly too dull to cut through regular plywood decking. I have ordered a new Diablo 40 tooth blade to replace it so maybe I will have better results

Battery: The battery and ergonomics are one thing they definitely got right on this one! The battery holds a charge long enough to run through anything but solid all day cabinet making, and this saw perfectly fits in my hand.

Overall this is a descent tool, probably more suited to rough framing where perfectly square and smooth cuts aren’t necessary. Although I am hoping a better blade will improve the cuts. With care you can keep the cuts square but it should not take so much effort and concentration just to keep the tool square.

An absolutely amazing and powerful tool. I purchased it to cut a set of 4″ thick white oak stair stringers and it powered through the oak like it was cutting 1\4″ plywood. The tool is quite heavy but appropriately so for such a powerful tool. I would recommend it to any journeyman who has even an occasional requirement for cuting thick material.
